What is SOAR?

Rocky Mount Church is very excited about our new Special Needs Ministry, SOAR. This ministry will provide a blessing to families that have different challenges when participating at church.

Our vision is to transform religion into a relationship with Jesus Christ, one person at a time, by providing SUNDAY SCHOOL classes, ONE-ON-ONE buddies, and seasonal ACTIVITIES to individuals with I/DD, so they and their families can build RELATIONSHIPS within the church community. Let's SOAR!

How to Get Started

We offer an 11:00 A.M. class on Sunday mornings for our friends with special needs so their families can enjoy our 11:00 A.M. Modern Worship Service. We've built a team of buddies who are waiting to match up with their new friend and will be with them at all times during their class.

To participate, the first step is to click the link below to "Find A Buddy." We'll ask you some questions so we can get to know your family a little more and create the best match for you! We can't wait to meet you!

Serve with SOAR

We can't provide this ministry to families without help from lots of caring people willing to serve with us. No prior experience is needed, and training is provided to make you feel as comfortable as possible; you just need to be 18 years old. There are other serving opportunities for 13 to 17-year-olds. See the registration form for more information.

We do ask individuals applying to be a buddy to commit to consistently attend as many Sundays as you can with your buddy. This enables families to give their child consistency with you as well as benefits their child by creating a routine.
